A teenage gang of ‘snatch and grab’ thieves has been busted and a variety of weapons seized in Sydney, police said today.
Four boys, aged 16-17, were due in court later today facing numerous charges including larceny and affray, after a string of thefts from shops.
In early morning raids on three properties yesterday police seized a Honda Accord, knives, a Taser-like stun gun, cash, a stolen credit card and a variety of other items they allege are stolen.
The arrests follow extensive investigations by detectives from Strike Force Arpen, part of the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad, that began last month.
Yesterday morning the four boys from Oxley Park and Plumpton were arrested and remanded in custody.
The group of boys, two aged 16 and two aged 17, were charged with numerous criminal offences, including larceny and participating in a criminal group.
The boys were also charged with recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime and use of a prohibited weapon without permit.
They were all refused bail at a children’s court yesterday and were remanded to reappear in court later today.
Investigations under Strike Force Arpen will continue.
